Mug with single, bifurcating loop handle attached from the shoulder to the wide, splayed rim. The rounded body is covered in vertical ribs, the inset foot has a slightly concave base. The whole surface is covered in a rich black slip. Intact, a few small losses of the glaze touched in.
This is a South Italian version of the Pheidian shape. The treatment of the upper ends of the ribs distinguishes this type from the Attic examples.
